Why wear it
  • Family-scale wealth (kula Lakshmi) — The 34-sum Chauntisa locks in household prosperity that flows to all family members, not just the earner
  • Marital harmony and progeny — Lakshmi is Vishnu's consort; the yantra strengthens marriage bonds and supports couples seeking children
  • Stability of accumulated wealth — Where Shri Yantra magnetises new abundance, Maha Lakshmi Yantra anchors and grows what is already earned
  • Removal of poverty consciousness — Daily practice dissolves daridrya (chronic lack-mindset) and replaces it with abundance-awareness
  • Auspiciousness of the home — Lakshmi presence is felt as warmth, light, fragrance, and the steady arrival of small daily blessings
The Detail

About this piece

The Maha Lakshmi Yantra is the geometric seat of Goddess Mahalakshmi, the supreme giver of wealth, prosperity, beauty, and family well-being. Unlike the Shri Yantra (which is the abstract cosmic geometry of Tripura Sundari and works at the level of universal abundance), the Maha Lakshmi Yantra is the deity-specific instrument that channels Lakshmi's grace into family-scale prosperity — household income, marital harmony, children's welfare, and ancestral wealth. Its sacred geometry is the Chauntisa (literally "thirty-four") — a 4×4 magic square in which every row, every column, every diagonal, every 2×2 sub-square, and every set of corner cells sums to exactly 34. This is enclosed in interlocking triangles, an eight-petal lotus (the lotus is Lakshmi's seat), a sixteen-petal lotus, and a four-gate bhupura. Copper amplifies the warm, generous prana of Lakshmi. Hand-engraved in Jaipur and energised on Friday, Diwali, or Akshaya Tritiya.

How to wear

Place in the north of the home or pooja room, on a clean red or yellow cloth. Friday is the day of Lakshmi — light a ghee lamp, offer red lotus or rose, kumkum, akshat (unbroken rice), and white sweets like kheer or batasha. Chant "Om Shreem Mahalakshmyei Namah" 108 times daily with a kamalgatta (lotus seed) mala. Diwali night is the supreme installation moment — perform Lakshmi Pujan with the yantra at the centre of the altar. Maintain absolute cleanliness around the yantra; do not allow dust, leftover food, or torn items nearby.

Questions

Frequently asked

How do I tell hand-engraved from machine-stamped?

The Chauntisa numerals are the most reliable check — each of the 16 numerals must be hand-cut with a slight variation in stroke weight. Machine-stamped versions show identical, perfectly uniform digits. The 8-petal and 16-petal lotuses also reveal hand-engraving by their individual petal-vein cuts.

Can I place Maha Lakshmi Yantra in the bedroom?

The pooja room or main hall is preferred. If installed in the bedroom (acceptable for couples seeking family-building), place on the north wall above the bed and cover with a clean red cloth during private hours.

How often should I worship?

Daily 11 repetitions of "Om Shreem Mahalakshmyei Namah" with a ghee lamp at sunrise and again at dusk. Friday, Purnima, Diwali, Akshaya Tritiya, and Dhanteras deserve full pooja with offerings.

Can women worship during periods?

Lakshmi is the supreme feminine and is approached with full reverence — mental mantra is encouraged at all times during menses. Physical pooja is paused for three days and resumed after bath.

Where do I dispose of an old yantra?

Immerse in flowing water on a Friday with three repetitions of the Mahalakshmi mantra. A consecrated Maha Lakshmi Yantra is often passed down as kula-vibhuti rather than disposed.

Can I use a printed paper version?

A printed paper Lakshmi yantra is widespread (especially around Diwali) but does not hold sustained charge. For ongoing family prosperity, copper is the substrate prescribed in the Lakshmi Tantra. ---
